AKASC Library

AKASC Library has an excellent library for the benefit of students and faculties. The College Library was established at the very inception of the Institution. College library is the heart of institution. The library is located on the first floor with well ventilated, lighted and aired to facilitate comfortable seating for students and teachers.

It supports process of college education through providing required reading materials (Print + Electronic) to the user and opens the doors to the books which encourages reading for gain of knowledge and pleasure. The library is fully computerized allowing functions like issue, return, and availability assessment of books, easy and user friendly. We have bar-coded our document collections.

Library books are well stacked in accordance with Dewey Decimal Classification System. Library Membership is offered to the current students and staff of the college. The collection of total books is 2000. Collection is continuously updated with changes in curriculum. It subscribes to newspapers, journals, and magazines.

Library Working Hours

The college library shall remain open on all days except Government holidays to the students and the staff:

Monday to Friday – 8.30 AM to 3.30 PM
Saturday – 8.30 AM to 2.00 PM

Membership

Only AKASC Students, Researchers, Faculty, and Staff as registered members are allowed to use the Library.

  • Members should produce their Library Membership card at the entrance of the Library.
  • A duplicate Library Membership card will be issued on payment of Rs.100/-.
  • Students can borrow two books at a time.
  • Full-time teaching faculty can borrow three books at a time.
  • The library advisory committee may suggest the limitation of books to faculty and students on the basis of their library collection.
Overdue Charges
  • Textbooks - the overdue charges Rs. 5/- for the first fourteen days.
  • General books - the overdue charges Rs.2 per day for the first seven days, Re.1 for next seven days.
  • After the expiry of fourteen days, the defaulter has to pay the price of the latest edition of the book plus overdue charges.
  • Membership shall be suspended for repeated delay in returning the books.
Loss of Books
  • Loss of books should be reported to the librarian immediately and replaced with a new copy along with overdue charge.
  • If unable to replace, the borrower will pay two times the cost of the book.
General Rules & Regulations of the College Library
  • Silence and discipline must be maintained inside the library.
  • Identity card is compulsory during book issue and return.
  • Personal belongings must be deposited at the entrance counter.
  • No marking or writing inside books.
  • No group discussions permitted.
  • Borrowing privilege may be withdrawn for misuse.
  • Library premises are under CCTV Surveillance.
  • No sleeping inside library.
  • Reference and rare books are issued only with librarian permission.
  • Visitors require prior approval from the Librarian.
  • No photography without permission.
  • Students must obtain No-Dues certificate before examinations.
  • Staff must obtain Library NOC during transfer or superannuation.
  • These rules are subject to revision or updation from time to time.
